Willis Coleman

Willis Harvey "Bill" Coleman, age 82, a lifelong resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, August 19, 2017 at his home. He was born January 3, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas to Willis Evans Coleman and Carrie Northway Coleman. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. After his service he was employed by Barkley Farms in Bishop, Texas and later was part owner of Bishop Poultry Farms for a combined total of 35 years in the poultry business. After his retirement he became a full-time rancher/farmer. Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kingsville and was very active in the Kleberg-Kenedy County Junior Livestock Show.
Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years of marriage, Nancy May Coleman of Kingsville; two daughters, Patricia Johnson (Mike) of San Antonio and Mary Coleman of Kingsville; one son, Billy Coleman (Elizabeth) of League City, Texas; two sisters, Marjorie Furr (Collin) of Comfort, Texas and Fran Sharpe (late Nelson) of Austin, Texas; one brother, Jim Coleman (Carol) of Tehachapi, California; five grandchildren, Cole Cloud (Courtney), Adrienne (Whit) Jordan, Christine (Matt) Sawtelle, all of San Antonio, Willis Coleman III and Wyatt Coleman, both of League City, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Catie Cloud, Carrie Eva Cloud, Wyatt Jordan, Jackson Jordan, Boone Jordan, Scarlett Sawtelle and Sage Sawtelle, all of San Antonio; and a large family including 66 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017 at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church, Kingsville, followed by a Rosary Service. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Vallilea Blair officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Funeral Military Detail will follow in Vattmann, Texas at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Kingsville, the Kleberg-Kenedy County Junior Livestock Show organization, or the Boy Scouts of America.
