William Green

William Jack (Jackie) Green entered into eternal rest on January 11, 2021.  He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and loyal friend to those who knew him.  William was born on February 6, 1941 in Waco, Texas.  He was the eldest of six children born to Mildred Hinton Green and Jack Evans Green.

William had a quiet confidence and strength. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”  - Mathew 5:5 (Meek meaning humble, teachable, patient, dependent on God.)  He always saw the good in everyone.  He had many passions:  God; love for his family; country; and watching NASCAR.  He was a gifted musician and enjoyed jam sessions with his family.  He was a former praise and worship leader at Coastal Bend Fellowship for many years. Being allowed to use his talent for the Lord brought him great joy. He loved his church family and enjoyed serving alongside them.

He was a member of Coastal Bend Fellowship Church and the Order of the Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge.

William married the love of his life, Emma Silva Green on September 9, 1962 on the Laureles Ranch. Being a navy family, the Greens lived in San Francisco and Long Beach, CA, Beeville, Oak Harbor, Washington, and finally returning to Kingsville where William retired from active military service in 1978.  William was proud of his military service and often told stories of his time on the ship and overseas.

Upon his retirement, William enrolled at Texas A&I University where he obtained a Bachelors with Teacher Certification.  During his college career, William made extra money by delivering papers and joined a country western band by the name of Low Country as a steel guitar player.

After graduation, William worked at Banquete Junior High for 26 years as a teacher and school bus driver.  He enjoyed working with the children in Banquete and had fond memories of his time there.

William found joy in everything he did.  He loved life and spending time with family. His daughters and grandchildren meant the world to him.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Emma Silva Green; parents, Jack Evans and Mildred Hinton Green; brother, Dan Max Green; and sister, Jimmi Lynn Leaverton.

William is survived by his daughters Wanda Marie Badger and Deborah Lynn Green of Kingsville, Texas; grandson, Dustin Lee Orr (Maricela) of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughters, Stephanie Renee Green  and Amber Nicole Badger of Kingsville, Texas; great granddaughter, Isabella Elena Orr of San Antonio, Texas; sisters,  Tommie Jean “Jeanie” Valle, of San Antonio, Texas, and Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Richards and husband Alan, of Houston, Texas; and brother, Joe Evans Green of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
