Thelma S. Del Bosque, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on December 3, 1938, in Kingsville, Texas, Thelma was the epitome of love and steadfastness, a shining light in the lives of all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Thelma dedicated herself to her family and her community. Primarily a devoted homemaker, she supplemented her nurturing role by serving the community through work at the local High School Cafeteria, the Nursing Home Cafeteria, and even the local retail establishment, Winn's. Each of these endeavors showcased her commitment not only to her family but also to the heart of Kingsville.
Thelma was a humble and loving lady, strong in her faith and known for her ability to listen more than she spoke. Her family cherished her warmth and patience, often turning to her for support or simply to be enveloped in her comforting presence. She was affectionately regarded as a grandma figure by many, extending her love beyond her immediate family.
Among her proudest accomplishments were her family and her renowned tortilla-making skills, which left an indelible mark on everyone who tasted her creations. The fond memories of traveling, going out for ice cream, and visiting her siblings will always be a treasured part of her legacy. Her family often reminisces about these beautiful moments of togetherness, forever grateful for the joy she brought into their lives.
Thelma S. Del Bosque will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched. Her unwavering love, compassion, and gentle spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who hold her dear in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julio N. Del Bosque; parents, Faustino Sr. and Eva (Cantu) Saenz; siblings, David C. Saenz, Faustino C. Saenz, Jr., Estella S Carrion, Ercilia S. Gonzalez, Rita S. Hinojosa, Norma S. Trevino, and Norberto C. Saenz.
Among those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Julio (Esther) Del Bosque, Jr., Tony S. (Mary) Del Bosque, and David S. (Marydoll) Del Bosque; daughters, Maria Diana (Gary) Hatley, Thelma (Mando) Hinojosa, and Delma (Joe) Trevino; siblings, Elisa Diaz, Gloria Rodriguez, and Johnny Saenz; 27 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A memorial holy rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. Martin Catholic Church; with a memorial mass to begin at 10:00 a.m. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
