Sixto Reyes Alvarez, age 87, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015. He was born February 16, 1928 in Edinburg, Texas to Alejandro and Aniceta (Reyes) Alvarez. He served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. Upon retiring, he obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Texas A&I University, and was employed with the Corpus Christi Independent School District as an educator for more than 10 years. He was a member of the Chamberlain Masonic Lodge, as well as Shriners International. He very much enjoyed and took great pride in volunteering in his community and throughout the state.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years of marriage, Maria Luisa Alvarez of Kingsville; two sons, Robert and Edward Alvarez, and daughter-in-law Kym Alvarez; three granddaughters: Elizabeth McWhorter, Courtney Bullard, and Shelby Alvarez; and three great-grandchildren: Aidan McWhorter, Keenan McWhorter and Finley Bullard.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. A Eulogy Service followed by a Masonic Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. A private burial will follow at a later date.
