Silvestre Chapa Jr., age 81, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born April 20, 1932 in Kingsville to Silvestre Chapa and Martina DeLaCruz Chapa. Mr. Chapa was employed with Arthur Brothers Construction until his retirement. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and member of Disabled American Veterans. He was an active member of Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail Fire Squad. Mr. Chapa was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Andrea Chapa parents four brothers, Donaciano Chapa, Victor Chapa, Rodolfo Chapa and Jose Chapa and one sister, Elvira Saldana.
Mr. Chapa is survived by three sons, Silvestre Chapa III Frances, Samuel Chapa Yolanda and Sergio Chapa Susan, all of Kingsville two daughters, Sylvia Ann Charles Saul of Corpus Christi and Sonia Ayde Benitez Ramiro of Kingsville two brothers, Adolfo Chapa Lila of Kingsville and Juan Chapa Lupita of Pomona, California 12 grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will take place after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited by Carlos Garza Jr. at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2013 at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Fr. Romeo Salinas as celebrant. Burial with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail will take place at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.
