Samuel R. Lopez, age 82, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 in Kingsville surrounded by his beloved family. He was born September 8, 1932 in Houston, Texas to Elodia Tamez. Mr. Lopez was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a Navy retiree. Mr. Lopez was the proud owner of The Tavern for 45 years. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 99.
Samuel was preceded in death by his beloved son, Russell Allen Fox.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years of marriage, Lucila Aguirre Lopez of Kingsville; four children, Ruben Fox (Carole) of Baytown, Texas, Cynthia Fox of Kingsville, Zandra "Tammy" Soto Borja of Acapulco, Mexico and Brenda Garcia of Kingsville; one sister, Naomi Towns of Corpus Christi, Texas; cousin, Carla De Pena of Corpus Christi; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at St. Martin's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Resthaven Cemetery with military honors.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hank Parker, Ruben Ramos, Ruben Garcia and Esequiel Cortez. Active pallbearers will be Derrick Escobedo, Eric Jason Escobedo, Felipe Escobedo Jr., Ruben Fox, Russell Fox and Richard Fox.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
