Salvador G. Barrera Jr.
January 20, 1940-August 17, 2021
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren after a long battle with cancer. Salvador was born on January 20th,1940 to Salvador and Petra Barrera in Kingsville, Tx.
Salvador retired from the United States Postal Service after 28 years of service. Salvador was active within the community of Kingsville coaching Little League baseball, youth football and was well respected by those who he mentored. Salvador loved to fish, watch football, baseball and boxing, his favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers, Houston Astros. Salvador enjoyed spending time with his family traveling, barbecuing and always loved a good game of dominoes with those he loved.
Mr. Barrera is survived by his wife Ernestine of 59 years, sons Jose Enrique (Myrna), Salvador Sonny III, Robert Andrew (Valerie) of Randolph Wisconsin, Javier Omar, daughter Laura Lynette Mendiola (Israel) of Beaumont, Tx as well as sisters Rosa Barrera Esquivel ( Phil Sr.), Adelina Barrera Canales (Tavo), Angie Winget (Art) , and late brother Gilberto Adan Barrera (Daisy). He was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary on Wednesday August 25th from 9 am to 12 pm with a blessing to begin at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Chamberlin Cemetery. At the request of the family due to COVID 19 they are respectfully requesting that mask be worn for the safety and protection of loved ones.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd. Kingsville, Texas 78363.
