Rolando "Rolie" B. Quiñones

Rolando “Rolie” B. Quiñones, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, June 16th, 2023. He was born in Kingsville, Texas on May 9th, 1951, to Geronimo and Leonor Quiñones.

Rolie enjoyed life to the fullest. He created so many family traditions, his most loved traditions were the annual family Frio River summer trip and grilling for his family. Rolie enjoyed spending time with his friends while listening to some of their favorite music. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was also a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan. 

Rolie was an operator at Celanese from 1976 until he retired in 2005. While employed, he was an active firefighter and played in the Celanese softball league. After retirement, Rolie worked for the Boll Weevil Eradication Program from 2007 through 2022.

There is no doubt that our loss of Rolando is significant to all who knew him. However, they can take solace in knowing he lived an exceptional life surrounded by love right until the end. His warmth and humor will forever be deeply missed by those touched by his spirit- rest easy Grandpa Rolie. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Juan V. Torres.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart, his wife of 50 years, Mary Quiñones; his three sons, John (Kacie) Quiñones, David (Angie) Quiñones, and Adrian (Jennifer) Quiñones; siblings, Ninfa Smith, Vilma (Arcadi0) Amaya, and Adrian Quiñones; his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Marina, Sol, Serena, Christian, Cammie, Emma, Karlee, Dylan, and Riana; six great grandchildren, Ava, Mikaela, Evelyn, Sophia, Manny, and Jayden. 

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30am on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. A Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
