Roel "Roy" Torres

Roel "Roy" Torres, born May 29, 1970, in Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2023. Roy was a very generous, good, and hardworking man.

Roy genuinely loved God, his family, and his friends. He always expressed an abundance of joy when he was surrounded by loved ones and made sure everyone felt the love. Roy worked as a roofer and journeyman electrician by trade since 2005. Anyone who knew him knows that Roy was a great fisherman. He could fry and filet fish like a professional. Among his family, Roy was known as the man to call upon for the best fish tacos and BBQ. As we take the time to celebrate the life of Roy, let us remember the remarkable and loved man he was. Because of his warm smile and the beautiful memories he created, Roy's legacy will forever be alive in those he left behind. May his soul find eternal rest knowing that the impact he left on this world was immeasurable.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, David and Yolanda Torres; maternal grandparents Nicholas and Jesusa Ramos; paternal grandparents Jose D and Rafaela Torres; and sister Belinda Torres.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his brothers Jose David Torres, Eloy (Rachel) Torres, and Oscar Torres; sisters Nelda T. (George) Brown and Melba T. Rios; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close dear friends. He also will forever hold a very special place in the hearts of Omar and April Cabrera, and Gabby and Caden Radford.

A celebration of life will take place August 8, 2023 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by a prayer service at 10:30am. The celebration will be followed by an internment at 12:00pm at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery. Honoring Roy as pallbearers are Troy Torres, Andy Olivarez, Lee Rodriguez, Arthur Brown, PJ Reyna, and Jonathan Torres.
