Roel Cavazos

Roel Cavazos, age 79, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born September 10, 1938 in Kingsville to Alberto Hernandez Cavazos and Delia Soliz Cavazos. Roel was a 1957 graduate of H.M. King High School. He honorably served 21 years with the U.S. Air Force. He was then employed with Southwestern Bell until he decided to pursue a bachelor's degree at Texas A&I University. Upon graduation in 1993, he dedicated the rest of his career to shaping young minds as a third-grade teacher for Robstown Independent School District. Roel was very passionate about education, as he was a strong believer that once an education was earned, it could not be taken away from you.
Outside of his career, Roel's hobbies included fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. Roel was a dedicated parishioner of St. Martin's Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Albert Cavazos Jr. Roel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Graciela L. Cavazos of Kingsville; one son, Josh Cavazos of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Candace "Candy" Faldyn (Greg Smith) of Boerne, Texas and Catherine Jillian Cavazos (Christian W. Rindlisbacher) of Austin; one brother, Robert "Robe" Cavazos of Kingsville; three granddaughters, Sierra Wren Britt (Nicholas) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Madilyn Grace Faldyn and Meredith Patricia Faldyn, both of Boerne; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at St. Martin's Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Corpus Christi, Texas at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
