Rodolfo “Rudy” Vasquez, Sr was born in Hebbronville, TX, on April 12, 1940. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and popo to all. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from CCAD as a Section Chief after 35 years. He also retired from Texas Boll Weevil, Neessen Chevrolet, and Kleberg County Human Services Transportation and Nutrition Department. Rudy exhibited and instilled the value and importance of a good work ethic in all of us. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved all things outdoors. Rudy loved to spend his days at his ranch with his family and friends, hunting and cooking. His biggest and greatest passion was building a legacy, “Vasquez Ranch”, a place for his children, grandchildren, and future generations to love and enjoy, just as much as he did. He will be painfully missed; and forever loved, admired, and remembered by us all.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sylvia V. Garza; parents, Evaristo and Socorro Vasquez; four brothers; and two sisters.
Among those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Helena Vasquez; sons, Rudy (Janie) Vasquez, Jr., Israel (Annette) Vasquez, Danny (Shana) Vasquez, and grandson raised as a son, Omar (Natalie) Vasquez; daughters, Sonya Vasquez and Sandra Vasquez-De La Paz; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a holy rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. Funeral procession will depart the funeral chapel at 9:30 AM, on Thursday, March 10, 2022, to St. Martins of Tours Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian burial, to be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
