Robert Joseph Hernandez, age 86, a resident of Orange Park, Florida and a former longtime resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in Orange Park. He was born January 25, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph Hernandez and Bessie Bliss Hernandez. He served over 20 years in the U.S. Navy until his retirement in 1966. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. After his retirement from the Navy, he owned Bob Hernandez Dental Lab, Kingsville, for 25 years. Robert was a dedicated member and Senior Warden of the Epiphany Episcopal Church. Mr. Hernandez was also a member of Kingsville Rotary Club and a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents three former wives, Anne Marie Hernandez, Lena Hernandez and Dorothy Hernandez one sister, Priscilla Soderman one brother, Richard Hernandez one daughter, Connie Bautista two grandsons, Troy Burgess and Tony Burgess and one granddaughter, Sharron Burgert.
Robert is survived by his children, Margaret Burgert Barry of Fleming Island, Florida, Helen Scrape Otto of Jacksonville, Florida, Barbara Schubert and Robert Joseph Buddy Hernandez Jr., both of San Antonio, Texas, and Bessie Trevino Pio of Kingsville four brothers, Roy Hernandez Hilda of Wellton Arizona, William Billy Hernandez of Redondo Beach, California, Danny Hernandez Joan of Tucson, Arizona, Jimmy Hernandez Connie of Pomona, California six sisters, Margaret Watson of Tucson, Arizona, Dorcus Miller of Alexander, Arkansas, Virginia Prater of Tucson, Arizona, Glenda Dunstan Mark of Elyria, Ohio Mary Anne Miller James of Tucson, Arizona, Linda Paluszek of Payson, Arizona 22 grandchildren 30 greatgrandchildren four greatgreatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Epiphany Episcopal Church, 206 North Third Street, with The Rev. William R. White officiating. Burial of cremains will follow in Kingsville with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail at Chamberlain Cemetery.
