Rene Guerra

Rene Roberto Bobby Guerra, Sr., a Kingsville, Texas resident, age 76, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 5, 2013. Bobby was born on June 6, 1937 in Kingsville to the late Santiago and Corina Guerra. He was so devoted to his country that he left school to join the military. He was in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He was an allaround athlete and continued his love for sports by coaching his sons soccer team. He enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in swimming, soccer, and baseball. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter who shared his expertise with his son and grandsons. He retired from Entex after 37 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Mr. Mrs. Social Club. He resided in Kingsville his entire life as he worked and raised his four children. He was a loving husband, and a devoted father and grandfather. He made sure his children continued their educations and helped them follow their dreams. He was a great competitor and instilled this characteristic not only in his children, but grandchildren as well. Bobby will be greatly missed by his family and friends alike, especially his love for his family and the way he lit up a room with his smile.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Maria Hilda Guerra.
He is survived by his children three daughters, Deborah Noe Quintanilla of Corpus Christi, Texas, Celina Adrian Vargas of Kingsville, and Anna Liza Mark Alaniz of Ricardo, Texas one son, Rene Roberto Sally Guerra, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas three brothers, Jimmy Irma Guerra of Corpus Chirsit, Benny Sara Guerra of Kingsville, and Joe Guerra of Kingsville two sisters, Mickey Ramos of Corpus Christi, and Diana Juan Ortiz of Denton, Texas, and twelve grandchildren Lou Liza Garcia, Nathaniel Noe Quintanilla, Mathew Noe Quintanilla, Noe E Quintanilla, Alyssa Corina Alaniz, Markie Cierra Alaniz, Caiman Dylan Vargas, Anthony Rene Alaniz, Aidan Nicholi Vargas, Mikaela Nikohl Quintanilla, Roxanne Ira Bautista, Robert Gunner Guerra, and Rein Gage Guerra, two greatgrandsons, Isaac Anthony Garcia and Lucas Michael Garcia.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at TurcottePiper Mortuary with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Thenan officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
