Renato Garza, age 94, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Kingsville. He was born July 31, 1922 in La Sejita, Texas to Gregorio Garza and Deonicia Rodriguez Garza. Mr. Garza was employed for Texas Dept. of Transportation until his retirement. Mr. Garza was also a part-time rancher most of his life. Renato was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ray Garza; two brothers, Antonio Soliz and Luis Garza; and two sisters, Candelaria Canales and Dora Ramirez.
Renato is survived by his wife of 68 years of marriage, Ofelia Gonzalez Garza of Kingsville; four children, Mary Ella Martinez (Antonio) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Daniel Garza Gonzalez (Janie) of Mathis, Texas, Laura Salinas (Joe) of Concepcion, Texas and David Garza (Melissa) of Lake City, Florida; one sister, Ella Pardo of Kingsville; one brother, Gustavo Garza of Kingsville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at St. Martin's Catholic Church with Fr. Naul Ordonez as celebrant. Burial with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Funeral Military Detail will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to Renato's caregivers who made it possible for him to remain at his residence throughout his illness especially to Helen Ybarra, Ana Reyna, Carmen Ortiz and Gentiva Hospice Services.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
