Randall Merritt Paschal left the confines of this mortal life to join friends and family in his heavenly home on May 29, 2013. He was born January 14, 1959 to Ralph Russell Paschal and Betty Merritt Paschal of Bishop, Texas. He was always a funloving, hardworking boy as he grew up on the family farm near Bishop. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, fast cars and interacting with people and animals. Randy had a special gift: he attracted children and animals all his life, and they followed him around like he was the Pied Piper.. At about age 8 his family began a tradition of summer vacations at a favorite spot on the Frio River, a tradition that continued almost uninterrupted until this year. He loved the beautiful Texas Hill Country, which also became a favorite place for deer and turkey hunting. Randy felt the call of God in his young life around the age of 9 and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Bishop, where he remained a member for the rest of his life. He attended school at BCISD where he participated in football and track. After graduation in 1978, he attended college at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, graduating with a BS in business. He made many lasting friendships. Shortly after graduation, he landed a job with Sherwin Williams in Austin as a commercial sales representative, where he set many sales records, winning numerous awards and bonuses. He continued in that line of work, employed by several such companies, including ICI and Glidden. No desk job for him, thank you He enjoyed being out and about, wheeling and dealing. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, a World War II Marine who served in the Pacific arena, going into Midway Island right after the Battle of Midway. Randy was captivated by all things relating to the greatest generation and wore his fathers dog tags around his neck day and night, where they still remain today. Surviving him are his mother, Betty, his brother, Tony, sister Shelley Greaney Don, cousins, nieces and nephews, including his beautiful niece, Meredith Paschal, and his special little friend and nephew, Spencer Laporte, and a host of friends who will always miss him dearly. A private graveside service will be observed at Bishops Restland Cemetery prior to a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on June 5, 2013 at Bishops First Baptist Church, 311 East Fifth Street, with Rev. Clif Abshier officiating.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Bruce Johnson, Tom Dunn, Tony Spinelli, Ronnie Hale, Ronnie Smith, Jeff Nesloney, and Jimmy Zientek. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, or to the Bishop Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 142, Bishop, Texas 78343.
