Phyllis June Simpson Elsik, aged 80 of Pflugerville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 11th, 2023. She was born in Kingsville, Texas to Leslie C. and Irene Atkins Simpson.
Phyllis attended Texas A&I University, graduated from H.M. King High School in 1960, and was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsville. She was a talented painter, homemaker, businesswoman and well-known contributor to the Kingsville community, working for State Farm Insurance, Kingsville Crime Stoppers and as the Evidence Officer for the Kingsville Police Department. She was the co-owner of Phylles’ Arts & Crafts before opening her own store called Phyllis’ Special Events & Gifts on 6th Street, right next door to her husband’s business Elsik’s Garage. She was an especially gifted Homecoming mum maker and devoted much of her time to this passion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janis Kay Simpson Hutchens, and brother Gary Don Simpson.
Among those left to cherish her memory are, her loving husband of 63 years, Dewey W. Elsik; her three children, Choyce Elsik-Chappelle, Dewey “Bubba” Elsik (Stacy), Leslie Elsik; and six beloved grandchildren, Allison Chappelle, Ryan Elsik, Cooper Elsik, Caden Elsik, Kyndal Elsik, and Luke Elsik.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 15th, 2023, from 9:00AM to 12:00PM, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville. A graveside service will follow at Kingsville Resthaven Cemetery.
