Pedro V. Gonzalez, age 93, a resident of Kingsville, Texas died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 surrounded by his family in the privacy of his home in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born August 4, 1921 in Kingsville to Jose Gonzalez and Isabel Villarreal Gonzalez. He was employed for ARADMAC as an aircraft sheet metal worker for 36 years until his retirement. Mr. Gonzalez was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. During the war, he served in the Asiatic Pacific and was assigned to 25th Mechanized Calvary Reconnaissance Troop as a military policeman. His medals after the war includes the World War II Victory Medal, The Occupational Forces Medal and One Overseas Bar. He began first part of Occupational Forces in Japan stationed in Osaka, Japan. Mr. Gonzalez received a letter from President Truman acknowledging Mr. Gonzalez for his faithful service to his country. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2623 and also a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly 1303. Mr. Gonzalez was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death on August 14, 2007 by his wife of 65 years of marriage, Alicia G. Gonzalez who fell in love with him because of the twinkle in his eyes.
Mr. Gonzalez is survived by one daughter, Mary T. Gonzalez of Corpus Christi; two sons, Pedro G. Gonzalez (Armida) of Tucson, Arizona and Raul Humberto Gonzalez (Sylvia) of Mission, Texas; three sisters, Martha Ramos and Chavela Perkins, both of San Diego, California, and Maria Elena Caballero of Illinois; one brother, Jesus Gonzalez of San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. The whole family will miss him very dearly...we love you!
Visitation will take place after 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Funeral Military Detail.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
