With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Oralia C. Sifuentes, on November 29, 2024. A longtime resident of Kingsville, Texas, she was a beautiful soul full of love, care, and strength, who touched the lives of everyone she met. She wasn’t just our mother—she was a cherished friend, an incredible provider, and a talented chef. Her Chicken Fried Steaks and burgers were legendary, crafted with love and unforgettable flavor.
She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend—a kind-hearted woman who nurtured everyone around her. Oralia loved her brothers and sisters deeply and found joy in dancing, listening to music, and planting. Her children were her most treasured possessions, and she cherished her grandchildren as precious gifts.
Our mother’s strength and resilience were unmatched. After losing her beloved husband, Avilio A. Sifuentes, in 2022, she faced heartbreak but continued to fight with courage. Her love, perseverance, and unwavering dedication to her family will always be our guiding light.
She now joins her parents, Hilario G. Cantú and Juanita H. Cantú; her husband, Avilio A. Sifuentes; and her great-grandchild, Kayce Ignacio Hernandez, in paradise.
Oralia is survived by her children: Juan Jose Cortez Jr. (Annie), Joel Cortez (Shirley), Jennifer Cortez, and Jesse Joe Montalvo. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her memory. She is also survived by her loving siblings—Hilario G. Cantú III (Sandra), Odilia Treviño (John), Rebecca Muñoz (Rene), Irma Garcia (Juventino), Victor Cantú, Virginia Bueno (Oscar), Susie Ferdinand, and Enrique Cantú (Sira)—as well as many nephews, nieces, and extended family members who will hold her close in their hearts.
Our mother’s love, generosity, and strength will live on in all of us. We will miss her dearly but find comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with those she loved in paradise.
A visitation for Oralia will be held on Saturday December 7, 2024, at 3 PM followed by a funeral service in her honor starting at 5 PM the same day.
Thank you for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
