Noma Coquat Sheffield, age 66, a resident of Riviera, Texas passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at her residence. She was born June 15, 1949 in Denton, Texas to Joseph Alexander Coquat and Janet Musick. Noma was a 1968 graduate of Three Rivers High School and received her Master's Degree in Physical Education from Texas A&I University - Kingsville. Noma taught at various school districts and retired from Falfurrias Independent School District in 2005.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Liberty Michael Hoehne; and one sister, Janis Bluhm.
Mrs. Sheffield is survived by her husband of 38 years of marriage, Gene Austin Sheffield Jr of Riviera; one daughter, Freedom Larissa Suarez and husband Orlando of Riviera; one son, Gene Austin Sheffield III and wife Lisa of Sarita, Texas; one brother, Dr. Joe Coquat and wife Jacqueline of Oakville, Texas; and one sister, J'Vone Woodward of New Braunfels, Texas; seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Eulogy at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel.
