Nestor "Nes" Hinojosa

Nestor “Nes” Hinojosa, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and educator, departed this world on December 6, 2024, at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy as vibrant and spirited as the man himself. Born on May 27, 1962, in Kingsville, Texas, Nestor dedicated much of his life to the pursuit of knowledge, laughter, and the love of family.

A graduate of Texas A&M Kingsville, he nurtured a profound passion for history, which he shared with his students over the last twelve years as a devoted teacher. His enthusiasm for learning made him not only an instructor but a mentor who inspired countless young minds.

Nestor was known for his caring nature, warmth, and infectious smile, which lit up every room he entered. His personality was a delightful blend of humor and intellect; he could always be found sharing a joke or a witty remark, embodying the essence of a true jokester and friend. He had a playful spirit that drew people into his orbit, making them feel welcomed and cherished.

An avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Nestor delighted in football games, often bringing family and friends together for spirited gatherings centered around his favorite team. Beyond the football field, he enjoyed the thrill of a good poker game, where his competitive yet friendly demeanor shone through. Music was another great love of his, particularly the melodies of the artist "Sting," which accompanied many moments of joy in his life.

In his cherished family, he leaves behind his beloved daughter Cristina (Adolfo, Jr.) Silvas, who will forever carry the light of his memories in her heart. He was a doting grandfather to Aubrey and Carley Silvas, whose laughter mirrored his own jovial spirit. Nestor is also remembered by his sister, Nora Hinojosa, and his nephews, Larry (Amanda) Bazan, Albert Bazan, and Randy Bazan, along with countless aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his son, Nestor "Austey" Hinojosa III; mother, Genoveva Hinojosa; father, Nestor M. Hinojosa, Sr.; and nephew, Noeh Bazan. Nestor's legacy will endure through the lives he touched and the memories he created, as he leaves behind a lasting imprint in the hearts of all who knew him. His free spirit and ability to find joy in every moment will be deeply missed, but his laughter and love will echo through the countless memories shared with family and friends.

The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 p.m.  A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with an urn burial to follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
