Neiland Atmar Pharr, age 87, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born June 17, 1929 in Richmond, Texas to Kirkland Russell Pharr and Bessie Margarette Dawson Pharr. Neiland graduated from Richmond High School in 1947 and began working for Humble Oil Company at the Thompson Oil Fields for 10 years on the rigs. Neiland married his wife Mary Joyce in 1958. He transferred to the Katy Gas Plant where he worked as a Plant Operator 2nd Class until the Exxon King Ranch Gas Plant opened in 1960 and he moved his new family to Kingsville. He worked as a 1st Class Operator at the King Ranch Gas Plant until his retirement in 1986 after working for Humble/Exxon for 39 years. Neiland was a member of long standing and faithful supporter of the University Baptist Church where he served on several committees. He also was a life-long member of the Masonic Lodge in Richmond, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Glenda Marie Pharr Arrington (Tom) and Tommie Joyce Pharr Langley (John).
Mr. Pharr is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Joyce Armstrong Pharr of Kingsville; one daughter, Cecilia Elizabeth Pharr Hruska (Thomas - deceased) of Hempstead, Texas; two sons, Karland Robert Pharr (Lisa) of Grenada, Mississippi and Russell Allan Pharr of Kingsville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
