Myra “T” English passed away peacefully in Eagle Lake, TX on June 7, 2023.
She was born in Eagle Lake, Texas on January 13, 1925, to William and Zeta Sunderman Waddell, the youngest of six children.
After graduating from Eagle Lake High School in 1943, she attended Texas A&I in 1947 where she was a member of the band and Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated from Texas A&I in 1947.
"T" married William C. "Bill" English on May 29, 1948, and they made their home in Kingsville where they resided until 2006. While in Kingsville she was involved in many civic organizations where she assumed leadership positions including Campfire Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Vice President for Community Service of the Women's Club and President of University Women's Club.
She taught school in the Kingsville public schools for 5 years. After her children, Kathryn and Forest were born, she stayed home to raise them. She was active as a volunteer in their schools, including the PTA where she served as Treasurer for several years.
Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of Kingsville First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon, taught Sunday School, and sang in the Church Choir for many years.
Bill and “T” moved to Trinity Towers in Corpus Christi, Texas in 2006 where they enjoyed an active life with many retired friends. While there, she served as a faithful volunteer at the Pink Elephant Thrift Shop.
In 2019 she moved to Wimberley, Texas to live with her daughter and be near her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
"T" was preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings and their spouses and her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn English Rhodes of Wimberley; son, Forest William English (Tricia) of Eagle Lake; grandchildren Alexander (Anna) Rhodes and Raquel (Jacob) Skrobarczyk of Austin, Garett (Rachel) Hagendorf and Will (Kristie) English of Houston and 7 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at Chamberlin Cemetery in Kingsville, Texas on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 10:30 AM.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the charity of your choice.
