Michael "Mike" Cross

Michael "Mike" Shawn Cross, 68, of Kingsville, passed away on 15 January 2022 from congestive heart failure.

He was born in Tampa, Florida on 29 August 1953. He graduated from Choctawhatchee Senior High School on 8 June 1971. He entered the Navy in 1975, went to bootcamp in Orlando, Florida followed by Radioman "A" School in San Diego, California. After completing "A" school he was stationed in Keflavik, Iceland where he met his wife, Meg, who was also a Radioman. They were married on 31 March 1976 in Winter Haven, Florida. Mike and Meg were then ordered to Nea Makri, Greece where son Michael was born on 10 August 1978. Meg exited the Navy after Michael was born and followed Mike to Adak, Alaska where son Brian was born on 29 January 1982; next duty stations were Honolulu, Hawaii and Kingsville, Texas. Mike retired from the Navy 31 March 1995 and worked for Raytheon from 1 April 1995 until he retired due to congestive heart failure in 2004.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Levi "Bud" Cross and mother Joanne Mallory, uncle David Mallory, and grandparents Joseph and Irene Mallory.

Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years Meg; children Stacy Miller-Young and husband Jarrod, Michael A. Cross and wife Tara, Brian C. Cross and wife Shelby, Edward Warner and grandchildren Sydney, Gavin, Gwendolyn, Ambria, Gideon, Aaliah, Cameron and Molly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Country Luau Saloon, 115 University Avenue, Kingsville, Texas on Saturday, 22 January 2022, from noon to 4 p.m.
