Melvin Moerbe of Bishop passed away November 20, 2018 at the age of 90. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a retired grocer.
He was born near Bishop on February 7, 1928, the son of Otto and Minnie Michalk Moerbe. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School and Concordia Lutheran College in Austin. After graduation he served two years in the United States Navy.
On July 3, 1949 he married Margaret Kieschnick. This marriage was blessed with five children: Michael (Susan) Moerbe of Bishop, Marcella (James) Nolen of Sinton, Mark (Anita) Moerbe of Brenham, Malcom (Jamie) Moerbe of Plainview, and Melissa (Paul) Crozier of Bishop. He is survived by his children, twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Melvin was predeceased by his parents, his wife Margaret, and three sisters; Allyne Moerbe, Edna Krause, and Annette Thiele.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop, with Rev. Matthew Ulmer officiating. Burial will follow in Concordia Cemetery.
