Melissa Soliz

Melissa A. Soliz, age 46, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Kingsville. She was born August 28, 1971 in Kingsville to Emilio C. Soliz and Josie Garcia Soliz. Melissa was a graduate of H.M. King High School and studied psychology at Texas A&M University - Kingsville. She was a former clerk for the Kleberg County Clerk's Office and Kleberg County Appraisal District. Melissa was the first woman in Kleberg County to be ordained to marry same-sex couples. She spent her free time raising and donating funds to the Salvation Army for needy children.
Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Emilio C. Soliz.
Survivors, all of Kingsville, include her mother, Josie Soliz, one brother, Emilio G. Soliz, two sisters, Angie Soliz (David Quinones) and Krystle Barrera (Anthony), best friend, Raymond Garcia, and eight nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel followed by a Eulogy Service. A private burial will take place at Chamberlain Cemetery at a later date.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
