Melba Rose Darkis, age 78, a resident of Houston, Texas and a former longtime resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Houston. She was born May 30, 1936 in Longview, Texas to Edward Jenkins and Thelma Mae Bowman Jenkins. Mrs. Darkis was a nurse until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Kingsville.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Joycelyn Nelson and Amanda Baldwin Dee Dee.
Mrs. Darkis is survived by three daughters, Jacquelyn Jackson and husband Darryl of Houston, Kathy Price and husband Leroy of Carencro, Louisiana and Rhonda Beavers and husband Retting of Houston three sons, Terry Darkis and wife Shirley of Frisco, Texas, David Darkis of Houston and Bruce Darkis of Simonton, Texas 15 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 531 West Warren Street, Kingsville.
Services are entrusted to TurcottePiper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
