Mary Anna Ley, 91, died at her home in Kingsville, Texas, Friday, April 11, 2014. She was born October 11, 1922 in Mission, Texas to James and Gertrude Weisman. She moved to Kingsville at the age of four. She married Robert Bob Ley, a Naval Aviator, on February 14, 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents her loving husband, Bob her firstborn son, Robert Bobby brothers, James, Gerald and Raymond Weisman sisters, Lawrine Robinson and Joann Redd and grandson, Robert W. Ley.
Mary Anna was the best wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was deeply loved by her family, leaving them to cherish her memories. She is survived by her sister, Delores Russel of Torrance, California brother, Richard Dorothy Weisman of Kingsville four sons, Tom Ley of Branson, Missouri, Rick Alexis Ley, Pat Shelley Ley and Chris Shirley Ley, all of Kingsville and three daughters, Cathy Ron Mennen of Del Valle, Texas, Dianna Ken Mazurek of Bandera, Texas and Becki Mark Burgard of Kingsville. She leaves behind six granddaughters, Tricia Forrest Smith of Riviera, Texas, Tammy Greg White of Tomball, Texas, Ashley Ryan of Austin, Texas, Jessica Ley of Los Angeles, California and Kelsey Colby Franks of Katy, Texas, and Wendie Bobby Burroughs of Harker Heights, Texas 12 grandsons, Shawn Elizabeth Bartow of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Brian Jennie Bartow of Canyon Lake, Texas, Daniel Colleen Ley of Kingsville, Michael Kindra Mazurek of Gateway, Colorado, Matthew Kristy Mazurek of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Patrick Sharon Mazurek of San Antonio, Texas, Captain Kenneth Alyson Mazurek of Niceville, Florida, Ryan Burgard of Round Rock, Texas, Timothy Burgard and Dustin Stephanie Ley, both of Kingsville, Austin Ley of Canyon Lake, Texas, and Jeremy JoAnn McDonald of Pleasanton, Texas. She leaves behind 28 greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was a tireless volunteer for St. Gertrude Catholic Church and School. Her devotion to her faith was unchallenged. Mary Anna was the cornerstone of the family in whom everything revolved around. She was a beautiful, charismatic, loving person who was full of life and laughter.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 1120 South 8th Street, Kingsville, with Fr. James Stembler as celebrant. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
