Mary Hicks

Mary Gene Hicks, age 84, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 in Kingsville. She was born September 21, 1930 in Harlingen, Texas to Charles P. Wortham and Ostine Smith Wortham. Mrs. Hicks was employed with the Kingsville Independent School District as an elementary school teacher until her retirement. She was a member of the Kingsville Retired Teachers Association, AAUW American Association of University Women and the Javelina Booster Club. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Dean Hicks and son, Walter Prentice Hicks.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by two sons, Robert Miles Hicks Beverly of Houston, Texas and James Lynn Hicks Rebecca of Salt Lake City, Utah one sister, Joe Anne Watts of Kingsville four grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Chuck Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
