Mary Esther Belmontes, 70, of Kingsville, went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2020, after a long illness. She was born August 9, 1950 in Harlingen, Texas to Luis Ortiz, Sr. and Isabel Ortiz. Mary graduated from H.M. King and attended Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas.
Mary was a kind, and very loving person. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many people. She made friends easily and she will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was attending college to become a teacher but once her children were born, she decided to be a stay-at-home mom. She became a great role mode to her children, teaching them the skills needed to become great, successful, citizens. She was preceded in death by her parents Luis Ortiz Sr. and Isabel Ortiz, and by her father-in-law Octavio Belmontes.
Mary is survived by her husband; Gilbert Belmontes, mother-in-law; Yolanda Belmontes, Kingsville, one brother, Luis Ortiz Jr. Mary is also survived by one son Derek Michael Belmontes, firefighter Corpus Christi, one daughter, Jenice Marie (Sergio) Mendietta, teacher Kingsville and 3 grandchildren; Savannah Irene Gomez, Izabella Yolanda Mendietta, and Guillermo Mendietta.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Turcotte – Piper Mortuary, with a rosary at 7:00 pm that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, September 7, 2020 at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
