Marilyn Cumberland

Marilyn Cumberland, a cherished member of the Kingsville community and a devoted healthcare professional, passed away on August 28, 2024 in Kingsville, Texas. Born on September 3, 1938, in Kansas, Marilyn dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a registered nurse in Austin and Kingsville, and later as a school nurse. Her commitment to healthcare extended beyond her career as she volunteered at Kingsville Hospital, touching the lives of countless individuals along the way.

An achiever in both her professional and personal endeavors, Marilyn earned a master's degree, which complemented her lifelong passion for education. Yet, it was not merely her credentials that defined her legacy, but rather her ability to connect with people on a personal level. She possessed a warm smile and an infectious enthusiasm for life that made her approachable and loved by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Beyond her nursing career, Marilyn was a gifted artist whose creativity knew no bounds. She found solace and joy in painting, working with oil and acrylic watercolors that beautifully captured the world around her. Her artistic talents extended to crochet and other crafts, where her hands produced not just art, but cherished keepsakes for her loved ones, evidence of her affection woven into every stitch. She also enjoyed the peacefulness of fishing, often finding herself at the water's edge, reflecting on the beauty of nature.

Marilyn is survived by her loving family and friends. She leaves behind her beloved husband William "Bill" Cumberland. Marilyn also leaves behind Teresa "Terri" Duvall, Jacquelyn R. LeClerc, Byron W. (Teresa) LeClerc, Tonya Michelle (Eric) LeClerc-Spurgeon, Hal (Caroline) Werner, William Werner, Sgt. Alexander LeClerc, Sgt. Grace (Hunter) LeClerc, Sgt. Thomas LeClerc, and Grace Thompson, William Derek LeClerc, Jarek Dean Spurgeon, Emily Avery Werner, all of whom will carry on her legacy of compassion and creativity.

While Marilyn has joined her dear departed niece Lt. Caitlyn V. LeClerc, her warmth and legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
