Mariah Lynette Alvarez

Our loved one Mariah Lynette Alvarez, 23, from Bishop, Tx passed peacefully surrounded by family on February 12, 2024, at University Hospital in San Antonio, Tx, after a hard-fought battle with Primary B Cell Mediastinal Lymphoma. 

Mariah was born in Edinburg, Tx, on October 26, 2000, to Michael Alvarez and Irene Leal.  She graduated from Bishop High School and was loved by so many, especially those who she served at a popular eatery in Kingsville, Texas.  She enjoyed road trips, spending time with family, friends and especially her sisters. Mariah enjoyed playing loteria, going to bingo, playing scratch offs, and enjoyed watching Disney movies; she had a zest for life. Mariah was humble, loving, and a courageous person with a beautiful smile that would light up any room. She had a heart of gold; always put others first. 

Mariah is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Alicia R. Alvarez; maternal grandfather, Antonio Leal; and paternal great-grandparents, Jose and Cora Ramirez.

Mariah is survived by her parents, Michael Alvarez and Irene Leal; sisters, Michelle Aguilar (Jay), Marissa Alvarez (Jacob), Mia Alvarez; brother, Steven Colunga (Ashley); one niece, Hazel; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and most of all her favorite Dadas (Jorge Luis Salinas, Jr).

The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.  A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at St. James Catholic Church, Bishop, TX.  A rite of committal and interment will follow at St. James Cemetery, Bishop, TX.
