Maria Guadalupe “Lupita” López of Kingsville, Texas, went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2023. Lupita was born on March 19, 1947, in San Juan, Texas, to Alejandro Aranda and Rose Reyes. Lupita came to Kingsville at the age of 13, where she went on to raise her family. She was mother to Frankie, by whom she was preceded in death, Anthony, and Myra. In addition to raising her children, she was an integral part of countless children’s lives as she ran her own daycare for 30 years. She touched the lives of many young hearts, having cared for them and been an important part of their formative years. Upon retiring from the daycare business, Lupita continued in the service of others by providing care to the elderly. When her loving husband, José Ángel López, fell ill, she dedicated her life to his care. Lupita was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend who valued honesty. She enjoyed music, dancing, and anyone who ever ate her tamales will attest to the fact that she made THE BEST. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lupita was preceded in death by her son, Frankie Leyba; grandson, Frankie Ezekiel Macareno; husband, José Ángel López; and sister, Ayda Aranda.
She leaves behind her son, Anthony Leyba; daughter Myra (Ivan) Molina; José Manuel López and David R. López; grandchildren, Rudy Macareno Jr., Jonathan Isiah Macareno, Faith Rose Macareno, Jasmine Grace Fonseca, Jaylese Jo Fonseca, Drucilla Leyba, Erika Rae Molina, Iván Ray Molina III, David R. López Jr., Adrián López, Nicolás López, and Ángel Ray López; sisters, María Elena Aranda (Rubén +), Imelda Aranda López (Raul), Nelva Aranda Vela (Jacinto +), and Olga L. Macías ( Ruben); brothers, Julio Artemio Aranda, and Guadalupe Gerardo Aranda (Leticia); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
