Maria Del Carmen Maldonado

Maria del Carmen Cortez Maldonado, 77, of Kingsville, TX passed away peacefully on July 21, 2022, in Corpus Christi, TX. She was born on June 24, 1945, in Kingsville, TX to Guadalupe Cortez and Maria Antonia (Meza) Mendez. She was a retired Elementary Bilingual school teacher, serving local schools for over 42 years. Carmen was a peaceful soul who lived an adventurous life and had many passions. Music, dancing, traveling, education, and her pets were just a few. She was an avid learner, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Texas A&I University at the early age of 20, followed soon thereafter earning a Master’s Degree in Education Administration. A faithful Catholic, Carmen was also a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.

She was preceded by her parents and her beloved husband of 32 years, Vitalio (Vic) Maldonado.

Survivors include three brothers, Rolando (Norma) Mendez, Ricardo (Endida) Mendez, Rene Mendez of Kingsville; one sister, Rhonda (Barry) Dowell of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held on August 5, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. An urn Burial will follow at Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Turcotte-Piper Mortuary.
