Margaret Alonzo Macareno, 71, was called to the Lord on Saturday, June 29, 2019 from her home with her beloved husband, children and grandchildren at her bedside.
"Margie" was a long time Kingsville resident who enjoyed cooking, playing loteria, bingo and watching college softball. Her favorite pastime was cheering on the Brahma and Javelina athletic teams and marching bands.
Many will remember her easy-going personality, big heart and that she supported her family in every possible way. She was a devoted believer in Christ and kept her faith strong in her hand every day.
Margie was born November 2nd, 1947 in Tulare, California to Pedro and Maria Hernandez Alonzo. She attended grammar school there. Eventually she was a student athlete at Tulare Western High School.
In 1967 she married Juan Manuel Macareno Sr. Together they had five children and 15 grandchildren.
In 1976 she and her young family moved to Kingsville. Margie held many jobs, from field work and textile manufacturing in California to Mexico Bakery and other companies in Kingsville. She retired from Texas A&M University, Kingsville in 2015.
She is survived by her husband John; children and their spouses, Johnny (Mryna), Rudy, David, Anna (Roxane) and Manuel; and 14 grandchildren.
Her siblings Herminia Alonzo, Helena Ortiz, Elenor Gastelum, Alice Moreno, Jimmy Alonzo, Jeanie Guerrero and Eliseo Alonzo.
She is preceded in death by her two parents; one grandchild Frankie Macareno; two sisters Mary Duran and Ruth Alonzo; and two brothers, Gilbert Alonzo and Pete Jr. Alonzo.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Turcotte Piper Mortuary. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019, at Emmanuel Christian Church. Interment to follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary 205 General Cavazos Blvd. Kingsville, Texas 78363.
