Manuel Castaneda, Jr.

Manuel C. Castaeda Jr., age 89, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born January 16, 1924 in Kingsville to Manuel Castaeda Sr. and Antonia Cuevas Castaeda. Mr. Castaeda was employed for 35 years as a carpenter for the Kingsville Naval Air Station until his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Japan, Germany, England and France. Mr. Castaeda was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Castaeda Jr. was preceded in death by his parents four sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years of marriage, Carmen Castaeda of Kingsville three daughters, Lucinda Leyva Roy and Dolores Castaeda, both of Kingsville, and Lydia Southern of Corpus Christi, Texas one son, Manuel Castaeda III of Kingsville one sister, Evangelina Garcia of Kingsville eight grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
Public visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. A prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Ruben M. Gonzalez officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
