Lupe Gomez Bazan, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, in her cherished hometown of Kingsville, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on December 12, 1946, Lupe was a radiant light in the lives of all who knew her and loved her. Lupe's life was a tapestry of rich experiences, deep connections, and a vibrant spirit that touched many.
She dedicated her life to nurturing those around her, sharing in their joys and sorrows. With a joyous heart, Lupe found fulfillment in simple pleasures. She loved to gather with loved ones, playing games of loteria and bingo, humorously gambling in moments of friendly competition. Her culinary skills were unmatched; she delighted everyone with her mouth-watering pan de polvo, pan de dulce, and expertly crafted tamales, passing down her cherished recipes that will forever echo in the hearts of her family.
Lupe Gomez Bazan's legacy of love, warmth, and culinary tradition will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of family and the joy found in everyday moments. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all.
Lupe was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Luciano Bazan, Jr.; beloved granddaughter, Sabrina Renee Pina; parents Arturo and Olivia Gomez; brothers, Arturo Gomez, Tomas Gomez, and Servando Gomez; sisters, Hilda Guevara, Teresa Robles, and Esmeralda Gomez.
Lupe is survived by her loving partner of ten years, Jose Estrada, and her cherished daughters, Marylou Garza, Norma (Steve) Corona, and Irene (Edward) Sandoval Sr. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Garza, Jennifer Garza, Maribel Gonzalez, Sara Corona, Edward Sandoval Jr., Alexandra Sandoval, and Maycie Sandoval, as well as her five great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Additionally, she is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Alex Gomez, Robert (Laura) Gomez, Oscar (Cathy) Gomez, Ramon (Rosario) Gomez, Sulema (Ernesto) Cantu, Elma (Jesus) Rodriguez, Dolores Hernandez, Librada Cavazos, and Estella (Ruben) Guerra, along with numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville; with as holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, Turcotte-Piper Chapel. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
