Luis Velasquez

Luis Orlando Velasquez, 53, passed away on February 15, 2021 in Kingsville, Texas. He was born June 6, 1967 in Kingsville, Texas to Maria Elma Martinez and Melquiades Velasquez Jr. Luis loved his family. His grandchildren were his greatest joy and he loved to spoil them. He loved tinkering in his carport on projects big and small. He served honorably in the United States Navy as a GSE Support Mechanic. He was a longtime government contract employee on NAS Kingsville. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and close friends. One of his most favorite things to do before he became so sick was to go fishing with his wife and younger brother. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his father, Melquiades Velasquez Jr.

Luis is survived by his wife of 24 years Phaedra Lynn Velasquez of Kingsville, Tx; son, Jace Lee Velasquez of Kingsville, Tx; daughters, Alyssa Ashley Ramos (Joseph) of Austin, Tx, and Tatiana Inez Velasquez of Kingsville, Tx; mother, Maria Elma Velasquez of Kingsville, Tx; brothers, Romeo Raul (Lebby) Velasquez and Miguel Eduardo (Daylene) Velasquez both of Kingsville, Texas; sister, Maria Alicia (Steve) Pautzke of Kingsville, Tx; 4 grandchildren, Landon Joseph Alaniz, Sebastian Melquiades Ramos, Jace Wesley Velasquez, and Aviana Lynn Velasquez; father and mother-in-law’s, James and June Haywood of Jax, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with the Rosary to begin at 1:30 p.m. A Chapel Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary.
