Lucinda Cuellar Villarreal, age 78, a resident of Riviera, Texas passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born December 15, 1934 in Santa Rosa, Texas to Gregorio Cuellar and Luisa Perez Cuellar. She attended elementary school in Sarita, Texas and middle school in Santa Rosa. She proudly earned her CNA Certified Nurses Assistant degree from Coastal Bend Community College. Lucinda worked several years at the Kingsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she was awarded a Certificate of Special Recognition on October 2003. The last few years, she worked as a home health provider with TVNS Agency taking care of a dear friend up until March 2013. Her job gave her great joy and a sense of pride. She was also a very active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Riviera. She taught religious education classes for several years and loved to praise and worship in song during Sunday Mass. She had a deep devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and loved praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alberto T. Villarreal 11 children, Sylvia Ann Martinez Joe, Alberto Villarreal Jr. Herlinda, Mary Ann Moreno Ray, Rodolfo Rudy Villarreal Elena, Jose Rene Villarreal Lionila, Nora Bedford Harrell, Roberto Villarreal, Patricia Ann Alegria Marty, Daniel Villarreal, Carmen Brooks Marvin and Veronica Villarreal two brothers, Raul Cuellar and Rogelio Cuellar three sisters, Ocelia Torres, Lydia Luis and San Juana Lerma 28 grandchildren 21 greatgrandchildren and one greatgreatgrandchild.
Visitation will take place after 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Riviera with Fr. Peter Antony as celebrant. Burial will follow in Riviera, Texas at Riviera Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Morales from Kingsville and Dr. Alexander, neurosurgeon from Corpus Christi, as well as all the nursing staff at Spohn Shoreline Neurology ICU for their efforts and care of our mother. A very special thank you to Father Zachary from Christ the King Catholic Church, Corpus Christi, for his comforting spiritual words before and after surgery.
