Linda Jones

Linda Leigh Jones, age 62, of Bishop, Texas died peacefully on April 26, 2017 after a brief illness. Linda was born June 23, 1954 in Refugio, Texas, the daughter of Martin Arnold Brummett and Sandy Mae Ables.
In 1972, Linda married her high school sweetheart, Charles E. (Chuck) Jones. She passed away just a few weeks shy of their 45th wedding anniversary.
Linda spent 29 years as an elementary school teacher, and 28 of those years were at Bishop Elementary School. She was passionate about teaching and being a positive influence in the lives of her students. Her generous, loving spirit made her impact felt through the community of Bishop. Linda was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Bishop. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Texas State Teachers Association.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, always putting others before herself. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life. Linda especially enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Martin Arnold Brummett. Survivors include her mom, Sandy Crain; husband, Chuck; son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Brandy Jones of Buda; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Bruce Ainsworth of Enid, Oklahoma; two sisters, Rickie Nowell and Margie Moeller; one brother, Martin Brummett; and four grandchildren: Emma Ainsworth, Charles D. Jones, Gabe Ainsworth, and Hattie Jones.
Visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bishop. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bishop. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Refugio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to the First Baptist Church, 311 E. 5th Street, Bishop, Texas 78343.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
