Leonilda Sullivan

Leonilda Lucille Sullivan passed away on February 15, 2014 at St. Francis Nursing Home in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Riviera, Texas on January 31, 1923 to Leonora Underbrink Sullivan and Richard Raymond Sullivan. She had a twin sister, Leonora Gray.

Miss Sullivan graduated from Riviera High School and attended business college. She never married. She worked as Chief Deputy Tax AssessorCollector in Kleberg County. She was elected to the office of Assessor Collector in 1979. She retired from that position in 1984, remaining in Kingsville, Texas, and performing volunteer work. She had lovingly cared for her Mother Leonora during her final years. Leonilda moved to San Antonio, Texas in December, 2005. She resided at Incarnate Word Retirement Community until February, 2010, when she moved to St. Francis Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her three sisters, twin sister Leonora Gray, Josephine Kayser and Alice Luckie. She is survived by her nephew, Raymond Luckie of Austin, Texas and his wife Brenda and their children and grandchildren, and her nephew Stephen of Bellville and his children and grandchildren.

Visitation will take place after 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Vattmann, Texas with Msgr. James E. Harris as celebrant. Burial will follow in Vattmann at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Cemetery.

Services are entrusted to TurcottePiper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
