Julie Lopez Morrisey, born on May 5, 1966, to Lupe Montoya Suarez and David Lopez, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, surrounded by loving family in Harlingen, Texas where she resided. Julie fought the good fight of faith to the very end.
Julie was a devoted wife to her husband, Tommy, and they shared 27 wonderful years of marriage. On August 2, 2024, they renewed their wedding vows through the Catholic Church, and Tommy described this as the most wonderful feeling. Julie was a loving mother to Jay, Jared, Cierra, and Alexis. She shared a special bond with each of her children and was beyond proud of all their accomplishments. She was blessed with four beautiful grandbabies that she loved to spoil. Julie was also a caring and loving daughter and sister. Her sisters, Edna, Dalia, and Laura were her first and forever best friends. They created and shared countless memories of love and laughter, and they could talk about anything and everything for hours on end. Julie was also a fun and cool aunt that loved her nieces and nephews dearly as they did her.
Julie graduated from H.M. King High School in 1985. Shortly after, she began her career in cosmetology and became a highly sought out stylist in Kingsville for many years. Julie was glamorous with a great sense of fashion, and her career choice fit her well. She eventually moved to Harlingen with her husband, Tommy, where she enjoyed entertaining friends and family at their home. Some of Julie's favorite pastimes were listening to her favorite 80's music, gardening, and cooking. Everyone absolutely loved her cooking, and she was known for making the best homemade pico de gallo/salsa. Julie also positively enjoyed shopping especially for her precious grandbabies. She could shop till she dropped as her niece, Nena, fondly describes and remembers her.
Julie's greatest passion was spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren whom she adored with all her heart. They were her pride and joy. Julie valued and loved all her family dearly. She was kind-hearted, giving, and compassionate. Her children are a true reflection of her love. Julie had a fun-loving spirit with the greatest sense of humor always making those around her laugh. She also had the most infectious and joyful laugh. Julie was truly loved by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Julie's legacy of love and joy will live on in the hearts of her children and all that knew her. Her memory will be forever treasured. Julies physical presence, beautiful smile, and loving embrace will be deeply missed. Rest in peace sweet Julie. Until we meet again. Julie was preceded in death by her loving maternal grandparents, Abelino and Bernarda (Nena) Montoya, and her dear father-in-law, Richard Morrisey.
Among those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tommy Morrisey of Harlingen; sons, Johnny Jay Garcia of Galveston; Jared Garcia (Mireya) of Austin; daughters, Cierra Morrisey of Austin; Alexis Morrisey of Austin; four precious grandchildren; her loving mother, Lupe Montoya Suarez (Sonny) of Kingsville; father, David Lopez of Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Sandy Morrisey of Kingsville; sisters, Edna Lopez Kidd (Perry) of Oklahoma; Dalia Lopez (Javi) of San Antonio; Laura Lopez Johnson (Marcus) of San Antonio; brother-in-law, Richard Morrisey Jr. of Kingsville; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends.
