Julian Gonzales, a cherished family man and a devoted member of his community, passed away on September 28, 2024. Born on June 22, 1945, Julian lived a vibrant life, marked by his unwavering love for family and the multifaceted passions that enriched his existence. A long-time resident of San Jose, California, he cultivated deep relationships and left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him Julian's educational journey was both distinguished and exemplary, culminating in a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology as well as an Associate’s degree in Math. His dedication to learning was a testament to his character, reflecting his analytical mind and commitment to personal growth.
From 1963 to 1967, Julian honorably served in the United States Air Force, where he embraced the values of duty and camaraderie. His military service instilled in him a profound sense of discipline and respect, qualities that he carried with pride throughout his life.
A true connoisseur of life’s simpler pleasures, Julian found joy in the timeless tales captured on the silver screen. His adoration for classic films like The Horizontal Lieutenant, Old Yeller, Run Silent Run Deep, and Cool Hand Luke underscored his appreciation for storytelling and nostalgia. In addition to cinema, he had an enduring affinity for music, gravitating towards the soulful sounds of Ramon Ayala and Los Relampagos Del Norte, which often played in the background as he created cherished memories with his loved ones.
An ardent sports enthusiast, Julian was a passionate supporter of the teams of the San Francisco Bay Area. His loyalty and spirit shone brightly in moments spent with family and friends, cheering for his favorite players and reveling in the camaraderie of sportsmanship. He also nurtured a deep-seated passion for vintage Ford Mustangs, immersing himself in the beauty of automobiles that echoed the sophistication and strength he admired.
Perhaps one of Julian's greatest joys came from coaching baseball and soccer, where he shared his love for the game and mentorship with young athletes. His role as a coach exemplified his desire to foster growth in others, combining his love for sports with an innate ability to inspire and encourage the next generation.
Julian Gonzales leaves behind a legacy rich in love, loyalty, and laughter, echoing through the lives of those he touched. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will remember not only the man he was but also the enduring impact he made within his community and beyond.
He is preceded in death by mother, Beatrice (Rawlinson) Gonzales and father, Manuel Gonzales.
Among those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years Maria Gloria (Torres) Gonzales; sons, Rene Gonzales and Mark (Nancy) Gonzales; brother, Manuel (Maria) Gonzales; sisters, Gloria (Israel)Longoria, Anita (Tony) Marquez, and Lucy (Raul) Garcia; granddaughter, Yvonne (Shan) Forshee; great-grandchildren, Luna and Leo Forshee; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at St. Martin Catholic Church. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
