Julia Salazar Najera, age 91, passed away on February 11, 2019 in Kingsville, Texas. She was born on December 22, 1927 to Frankciso and Olegaria Salazar in Alice, Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and a devoted dancing friend. She will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Protacio Najera Sr.; her companion, Manuel Hernandez; late sons, Protacio Najera Jr., Rudy Najera; late brothers, Heriberto (Herbert) Salazar, Roberto Salazar; late sisters, Deanda Herlinda, Olivia Olivarez, Anjelita Perez; and late granddaughter, Melissa Najera.
Sons, Joseph Najera (Erika), and Raymond Najera (Lyndia); daughters, Rosemary Garza, Norma Forte (Rene), Nora Najera, Evelyn Garcia (Jose); a granddaughter she raised, Debra Rivas (Hector); 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
