Joyce Yaklin

Our beautiful, loving Joyce Evelyn Terry Yaklin joined the heavenly angels on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Born on August 6, 1932, to Henry Smith and Della Nesloney Terry. Joyce grew up in Kingsville and graduated from H.M. King School in 1949. She married her “sweetie pie” Harold (Harry) J. Yaklin on August 4, 1951, and together they raised seven children that grew into a loud, loving family of 35.

Joyce was preceded in death by her oldest son, Harold (Hal) J. Yaklin, Jr.; parents, Henry and Della Terry; and her only sibling, Gerard (Bubba) S. Terry.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 70 years, Harry Yaklin; four sons and two daughters, George (Renae) Yaklin of Orange Grove, Susan (Clifton) Dotson of Sandia, Terry (Betty) Yaklin of Calallen, Bryan Yaklin of San Marcos, Greg (Terri) Yaklin of Seguin, Nancy (Harold) McCollough of Three Rivers, and Hal’s wife Lynette Yaklin of Kingsville. Joyce was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

Much to Joyce’s delight, she retired early from Entex and joined “sweetie pie” on a project in Saudi Arabia and Mexico City which allowed them to travel the world. When they returned home, they loaded their RV and set out to see the USA. They were extra ordinary ministers for many years and were often called to serve during their travels.

Our family would like to thank our loving angels Sue Nevares, David Rosse, Rosie Hoosier, Nancy McCollough, and Fr. Bob.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM; with a holy rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 17, 2022, at St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Vattman Cemetery.

Honoring her as pallbearers are Jerame Yaklin, Zack-Colton Yaklin, Chase Yaklin, Doug Yaklin, Dustin Yaklin, and David Rosse.
