It’s with a heavy heart to announce Jose T. Duarte went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday March 4, 2022. He was 89 years young. He was born on October 11, 1932, in Bishop, Texas to Petra and Severo Duarte. Jose was one of the only two Hispanic graduates of his entire graduating class from Bishop High School and served his country as a Military Police Officer. Upon returning from serving in the military he married the love of his life, Paulita Pena Duarte. They were married for sixty-six years and had five children. Jose was very faithful to the Lord. He was a devout member of King’s Way Family Church, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Jose was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his sense of humor. He was always quick to put others before himself. Some of his early hobbies included photography, participating in FFH, and playing basketball. He enjoyed fishing with his sons on Sunday afternoons. Jose also enjoyed taking his family on summer vacations to Astroworld, Six-Flags, Hemisfair World Fair and camping at Garner State Park and Falcon Lake. Jose will be greatly missed by everyone, especially his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Paulita Duarte; daughter, Nelda Duarte Delgado; grandson, Samuel Jacob Garza; parents, Severo and Petra Duarte; and sister, Corina Duarte.
Among those left to cherish his children, Yolanda (Frank) Garza, Joe Duarte, Jr., David Duarte, and Amy (Eli) Amador; sisters, Maria Morales, Dolores DeLeon, and Lucy Duarte; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; numerous, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 PM. Funeral procession will depart the funeral chapel at 9:30 AM, on Friday, March 11, 2022, to Kingsway Family Church for a Christian Service to be celebrated at 10:00AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thank you to nurses and staff members at Del Cielo Home Health Care, and South Spohn Hospital. Also, thank you to Joe Duarte, Jr for being his primary caretaker and Jose’s sisters Maria Gonzales and Dolores De Leon for looking after him during the last years of his life.
Pallbearers include Linda De Leon, John Gonzales, Tadeo Bracho, Joe Gonzales, Frankie Garza, Jr, Benjamin Delgado, Matthew Delgado, and Eli Amador.
