Jose Vela

Jose C. Vela, age 64, passed away September 4, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Jose was born August 3, 1953 in Kingsville, Texas to Reynaldo Vela Sr. and Elena Cuellar. Jose worked for the King Ranch for many years, and later began to work for Maltby Construction Kingsville. He was an avid Steeler's fan, an avid fisherman, and he loved to cook.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Joe Vela (Freddie Munoz) and Yvonne Vela (Romeo Adrian De La Rosa) both of Kingsville, Texas; two brothers, Uvaldo Vela (Josie) and Rey Vela (Denise) both from Riviera, Texas; three sisters, Norma Robles (Moe) of Austin, Texas, Ellie Jimenez (Jesse) Sanchez of Ricardo, Texas, and Susie Trevino (Sam) of Kingsville, Texas; both parents, Reynaldo Vela and Elena Vela of Riviera, Texas; and three grandchildren, Jose Alfredo Munoz, Aubrey De La Rosa, Romeo Adrian De La Rosa Jr.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Riviera Cemetery.
