Johnny Marroquin, Sr.

Johnny Marroquin Sr., age 87, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 in Kingsville. He was born February 11, 1929 in Kingsville to Marcelo Marroquin Sr. and Manuela Gonzalez Marroquin. Mr. Marroquin was employed for 38 years at Allens Food Store and Cooper Food Store. Afterwards, he was employed for Bealls Department Store until his retirement. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #2623.
Mr. Marroquin was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Marroquin Jr.; parents; two brothers, Jesus Marroquin and Marcelo Marroquin Jr.; and six sisters, Dora Ruiz, Beatrice Marroquin, Zulema Alaniz, Josefa Torres, Maria Cortez and Lily Landers.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years of marriage, Evangelina Marroquin of Kingsville; one daughter, Liza Vasquez of Kingsville; six grandchildren, Monica (Jeffrey) Ramirez, Melanie (Michael) Yarbrough, Marlena (Omar) Alvarez, Marc (Mari) Marroquin, Edward Vasquez and Elaine Vasquez (Tracy Medlock); 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Martin's Catholic Church. Cremation will follow and burial of cremains will take place at a later date.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
