John Asch, 75, passed away January 23, 2015. John was born May 21, 1939 in Somerville, New Jersey to John and Margaret Asch. After graduating from Somerville High School, he enlisted in the Navy. While stationed at NAS Kingsville in 1961, he met Maria, his wife of 53 years. Upon his Navy retirement, John pursued his lifelong passion for cars and motorcycles. He opened Cycle Inn Suzuki in 1980 and in 1995 he formed Tejas Auto Insurance Agency, LLC. After retiring from the business in 2005 he traveled to car shows across the country with "That White '50 Mercury". These shows were always family vacations. The popularity of the car brought him in contact with many people which he explained was "God's work...his hands".
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Asch.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Asch; three sons, John (Cyndi) Asch of Corpus Christi, Tony (Rebecca) Asch of Houston, and Billy (Ana) Asch of Kingsville; eight Asch grandchildren, Brittany, Jennifer, Billy, Kaylee, Roman, John, Olivia and Jane; one sister, Margaret Galle of Raritan, NJ, and one brother, Frank (Jan) Asch of Hawaii; and his childhood friend from New Jersey, Phil Cuchiaro.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Ugarte, his wonderful staff, and all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg in Kingsville for the exceptional care John was provided.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 140 S. Main Street, Sarita, Texas with Fr. Jim Foelker, O.M.I, as celebrant. There will be no funeral procession from the mortuary to the church. Everyone is encouraged to meet at the church, Tuesday morning. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
