Jerry Wayne Dew, age 78, a former resident of Kingsville, Texas and most recently residing in Franklin, NC, passed away June 8, 2019 in Gainesville, GA.
He was born on June 14, 1940 in Edinburg, TX to Farris Dew and Fern Pipkin Dew. He was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church in Franklin, NC. Mr. Dew was an Air Force supply specialist from 1958 -1962. He spent the remainder of his 34-year career in the oil fields of South Texas working for Exxon and Humble, making his way from roughneck to drilling superintendent. He was a talented writer of poems, prayers, and songs. Mr. Dew was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Dew, his wife of 48 years, Linda Nolen Dew, and his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeri-Lyn (Robert) Wheeler of Moore, Texas; four grandchildren, Lauren (Tommy) Thompson of Little Elm, TX, Ryan (Summer) Wheeler of Edmond, OK, Kayla (Derek) Moore of Pearland, TX, and Ashley Dew of Laredo, TX as well as five great-grandchildren, Caleb and Henry Thompson, Alexa and Kayson Wheeler, and Reagan Moore.
A Funeral Service was held at 10 am, Tuesday, June 11, at Grace Baptist Church. With Rev. Frank Rodriguez officiating. The family received friends at 9:30 am, Tuesday, June 11, at Grace Baptist Church.
Services in Kingsville, Texas will be held on Saturday, June 15 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with a Chapel Service at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville, TX.
