Jerald Nix

Jerald Lee Nix, age 68, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at his home in Lago Vista, Texas. Jerald was born October 20, 1944 in Kingsville, Texas to James Cleo Nix Sr. and Evelyn Soward Nix. He was drafted into the United States Army in April 1966. He completed his basic training in Fort Benning, Georgia with the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper, went to Vietnam thru 1967 and returned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina to complete his tour of duty. He received an Honorable Discharge in April 1968. He moved back to his home in Kingsville and right away he was lucky enough to land a job with Civil Service in Corpus Christi, Texas as a mechanic working on helicopter engines. He drove from Kingsville to his job for 30 years until his retirement in 1997. Jerald was a member of Retama Park Baptist Church, Kingsville. He and his wife Patti moved from Kingsville to Lago Vista in 2006. His hobby was working on his race car. He was an excellent auto mechanic. He enjoyed driving his race car on the C C Speedway race track in Corpus Christi.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Cleo Jimmy Nix Jr.
Jerald is survived by his wife, Patti Nix three daughters, Kim Nix Daniels and husband Brad, Christine Eagle and Jennifer Wise one son, Jeff Nix and wife Lisa five granddaughters, Britni Simpson and husband Alford, Katie Nix, Emma Eagle, Vera Eagle, Linzi Daniels three grandsons, Darion Nix, Forrest Nance and Colton Daniels two sisters, Kathy Nix Armagost and husband Homer, Darla Nix Wilson and husband Ricky and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Gary Clements officiating. Burial will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas at a later date.
Services are entrusted to TurcottePiper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
